Bobcats/Hawks At the Half

Lockout shortened season basketball!  Catch the excitement!

Ugly…ugly game for both teams.  It has to be fatigue or something, but the Hawks are actually leading at 43 to the Bobcats’ 38.  The Hawks are shooting 42.9% and the Bobcats…umm, 34.9%.

Luckily, it’s only a 5 point lead for the Hawks who are in the middle of a back-to-back-to-back, after last night’s triple overtime loss to the Lebron and Wade-less Heat.  I think the Bobcats can get back on top, because the bench carried a heavy load for Atlanta last night and they’ve done the same so far tonight and there is a reason those guys come off the bench.

Bright spots for the Bobcats are the rookies, Kemba Walker with 7 points and Bismack Biyombo with 3 blocks.  D.J. Augustin is on his way to a double-double with a game high 10 points and 5 assists.  Byron Mullens, the big surprise for the Charlotte team, has 6 points in 7 minutes, enhancing his already team-best PER.  D.J. White has had a nice game with 8 points and 8 rebounds but missed a couple gimmes.

I look for the Hawks to fall off, Paul Silas to try out some weird line-ups and Tyrus Thomas to be used a bit more sparingly in the second half.  The energy and effort for both teams was lacking a bit but if we see a tight game in the final quarter, you’ll be sure that it will be a good battle to the end.

I wasn’t sure what to expect out of Tyrus Thomas, playing his first minutes of the season after injuring his ankle at home against the same Hawks team in the pre-season.  3 rebounds and a sorry 2 points off of 6 attempts begins to show his rust.  DJ White and Thomas on the court at the same time is a little odd but it works, I guess.

Ok, back to the action!
