The Charlotte Bobcats have reportedly made qualifying offers to point guard D.J. Augustin and small forward Derrick Brown.
There are no reports right now indicating they will make a qualifying offer to power forward D.J. White.
Augustin didn’t have a great season, and he was injury plagued for most of the year; It won’t be hard for the Bobcats to resign him, if they really want to.
Brown scored 8.1 points in 22 minutes a game last season, and shot over 50 percent from the floor.
Some see him getting squeezed out of the rotation by draftees Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who’s sure to be the Bobcats starter from day one, and Jeffrey Taylor. Both play small forward, and both are probably better than Brown right now.
Speaking of free agents, Lou Williams is testing the market, and the Bobcats really should think about making him an offer that would be hard to turn down.
There will be more on that and a whole bunch of other nuggets tomorrow in Roberto Gato’s “Free Agency Primer.”
