DJ Augustin: When will someone make an offer

With the run on free agent point guards still going strong, one would think DJ Augustin would’ve had his phone ringing off the hook.

Instead, after the Charlotte Bobcats extended him a 4.4 million qualifying offer (making him a restricted free agent) Augustin hasn’t heard anything.

He’s got career numbers to be a desired starter on some teams and a highly sought after backup on most others.

His per 36 numbers of 14.6 points, six assists and just 2.2 turnovers are comparable to almost every 1-guard that has been signed this off season except Steve Nash.

Teams without point guards right now include the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and the Portland Trail Blaizers (if Damian Lillard doesn’t start and if Raymond Felton doesn’t re-sign).

Dallas and Houston are interested in Ramon Sessions, but Augustin had near identical numbers last season.

The Bobcats would love to work a sign and trade for him, but it wouldn’t be a bad thing for Charlotte if he returned on a $4.4 million deal. It’s just confusing that no team has shown interest in a young guy with the numbers Augustin has.

@bjames300 definitely a deep PG FA class this season. Worst case scenario, the Cats keep him, and trade him at the deadline

I think he could even have more value at the deadline. He put up a career best 7 plus assists per game last year. There will be plenty of teams at the deadline next year that need a guy like that.
