Charlotte Bobcats Best Players: No. 1 Ben Gordon

It shouldn’t be any surprise who the Charlotte Bobcats’ best player is. Ben Gordon, while not his old self, is the best shooter, maybe the best pure scorer, and definitely the best all around player the ‘Cats have right now.

His PER might not be up there, his points per game might not be either, but his career numbers are some of the best the Bobcats have.

16.5 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game over his career.

He’s a 40 percent career three point shooter. He’s got a .551 true shooting percentage. Also, his career offensive rating of 106 isn’t too shabby, either.

This year, coming off the bench, if Gordon can score around 13 points a game, he’ll be a huge asset.

The downside of having Ben Gordon as your team’s best player is pretty simple though. He’s the best on your team.

Gordon as the fifth, sixth, or seventh best player on your team would be a great thing, but as a guy who might be expected to shoulder the load of Charlotte’s offense at times, it’s depressing.

The Bobcats have some nice pieces, but no one is trying to fool anyone here. They’re not a good team, and most of their players wouldn’t make it on a top five list on another team in the NBA.

Still, if the ‘Cats keep securing draft picks and building with youth, they’ll find the playoffs soon enough.
