Tougher Faster Stronger: That's how management wants fans to see Bobcats

Tougher, Faster Stronger. That is the Bobcats 2012/13 slogan.

Already it’s better than the 2011/12 monicker.

“Prepare today, own tomorrow”. Really?

No wonder everyone thought the Bobcats (knew that they?) tanked last year. They might as well have just made the damn thing “hopefully we get the number one pick this year!”.

Anyway, “tougher, faster stronger” isn’t a bad phrase to describe the ‘Cats this year, and it’s about as true any slogan in the nation. There’s literally no way the Bobcats could not be tougher, faster and stronger this season.

A better phrasing of those three words, though, would’ve been “tougher, stronger faster”, because that’s what fans want. And, if the Bobcats don’t get tougher and stronger, faster, there might not be a team in Charlotte to come up with a slogan for five years from now.

Either way, ownership is clearly trying to distance itself from last year’s worst-ever NBA team. They’ve got new jerseys, they’ve de-emphasized the “Bob” from the “Cats”, and they’ve got this new motto to describe their young, hopefully up-and-coming roster.

In a couple years, maybe Michael Jordan and Co. can come up with a slogan a little less depressing than “prepare today, own tomorrow” and a little more encouraging than this year’s.
