Bobcats Lose 4th Straight In Presason

In a night of struggling offenses, the Bobcats went to 1-4 in preseason following a 85-80 lost to the Pistons in Detroit. It’s the Bobcats fourth straight loss in preseason. The Bobcats started slow once again in the first quarter, putting up just 14 points to the Pistons 30. After that, the Bobcats outscored the Pistons 66-55. It’s the third straight game the Bobcats have had a poor first quarter and been unable to rebound off it.

Tyrus Thomas shined with 14 points, 16 rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes. Thomas started in place of Byron Mullens and had his best performance of preseason so far. Thomas entered the game having just six rebounds in 57 minutes of play. Thomas was just one of five Bobcats who reached double digits on the night.

Kemba Walker led the team with 15 points, albeit on 4-15 shooting. Brendan Haywood had 11 points, while Ramon Sessions and Ben Gordon both had 13 off the bench. Gordon also shot 4-15 from the field in his first game in Detroit since being traded over the summer. The Bobcats shot 36.3% from the field and continued their struggles from deep, shooting just 29.4% from three. The Bobcats got to the line 25 times, but shot just 68%.

Rodney Stuckey led the Pistons with 16 points while Greg Monroe and Brandon Knight both had 15 points. The Bobcats forced 20 Pistons turnovers and capitalized with 28 points off them.

The Bobcats started Walker and Gerald Henderson in the backcourt, with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Thomas and Haywood up front. The Bobcats failed to score more than 90 points for the fourth time in preseason play. Last night’s total was the lowest so far in preseason. It’ll be a tough task to stop the offensive struggles, as the Bobcats will face the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat on Tuesday in the final week of preseason basketball.
