January Preview: Charlotte Bobcats could start the New Year off Strong

The Charlotte Bobcats finished 2012 off with a big win over the Chicago Bulls.

Based on the first few games of 2013, Charlotte could ring in the new year on a very positive note.

The ‘Cats start the year off with a game Friday at home against Cleveland, a team they’ve yet to play this season. Anderson Varejao hasn’t played in quite some time, and despite practicing with the team again, failed to take the court Wednesday. If he plays, Charlotte still has a shot to win. If he doesn’t play, the Bobcats should feel confident about extending their one game winning streak.

To cap off the first week of 2013, the Bobcats take on Detroit this Sunday in the Motor City. That matchup is also a winnable one, and if the Bobcats play well on both ends of the court against Cleveland and Detroit, they could be on a three game winning streak heading into a matchup with the Utah Jazz Jan 9.

The Bobcats also play winnable games against Toronto, Orlando, Sacramento and Minnesota this January.

They’ve got two games against Indiana with a matchup at Boston sandwiched in between, as well as home games against Houston and Atlanta.

The Bobcats finish the month with two straight road games against the Bulls and Spurs.
