Who Is The Most Likely Player on the Charlotte Bobcats to Be Traded?

The trade deadline is next month, and although the Charlotte Bobcats have already made a few moves this season, it doesn’t mean they’re done making moves.

Edward Shuler noted that the ‘Cats could be in the mix for Demarcus Cousins, and that Gerald Henderson could be dealt before the deadline as well.

So does that mean Henderson is the most likely Bobcat to be dealt?

We’ll get back to that in a minute.

As far as the Cousins deal goes, the Bobcats would most likely have to get rid of one of their young players. That list includes:

Kemba Walker
Bismack Biyombo
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Jeff Taylor
Byron Mullens

It’s hard to say that the Bobcats have any untouchable players, but Walker has really started to blossom this year, and most teams don’t trade their first round draft picks in the same year that they chose them.

The most likely candidate of that group to be dealt is Bismack Biyombo.

Bringing things back to the original premise of this post, Biyombo would also be packaged with a (or multiple) first round draft picks that Charlotte owns like the protected picks of Portland and Detroit, as well as Gerald Henderson.

Even if that deal falls, or never even happens, the Bobcats would probably prefer to move Hendo.

We’ve already gone into which deals involving him would help the Bobcats the most, but what about a deal that might help in ways not quite as obvious.

Well, J.J. Redick is likely to be dealt by the Orlando Magic, and although the Bobcats have a crowded backcourt, Redick would add a true shooting threat to a lineup that really lacks one outside of Ben Gordon. A straight up deal is unlikely, because both Redick and Henderson have contracts that are up after this year and Redick’s is twice as large as Hendo’s, but this is a hypothetical, so that’s that.

A Dukie for a Dukie straight up.

Unlikely, but, then again, this is the NBA we’re talking about.
