NBA Trade Rumors: Will the Charlotte Bobcats Actually Make A Deal?

At Roberto Gato, we’ve tirelessly covered all the trade rumors the Charlotte Bobcats have been involved in from DeMarcus Cousins to Rudy Gay.

There’s also the chance that they might make a small deal, like giving up Gerald Henderson or ‘Gana Diop for younger players and/or draft picks.

But what are the chances of Charlotte actually making a deal? The month the trade deadline expires is almost upon us, and there hasn’t been any real hard evidence that the Bobcats are really looking to make moves.

First off, if the Bobcats are offered Cousins or Gay for the right price, there’s no doubt in my mind that they’ll pull the trigger.

What that “right price” is, though, is anyone’s guess.

Also, if Charlotte can get a first round pick out of Henderson or Diop, they’re probably going to make that move, too.

Speaking of first round draft choices, Charlotte has three of them under their belt right now, and they could have two in this year’s draft depending on how Portland finishes the year.

After taking Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Jeffrey Taylor, Kemba Walker and Bismack Biyombo in the past two drafts (not to mention trading for Byron Mullens), the ‘Cats probably don’t want to take two more young guys into camp next season.

If the right deal comes along, don’t be surprised if Charlotte ends up trading the pick they own from Portland.

To answer the question posed in the headline, though, I do expect the Bobcats to do something before the deadline.

Diop’s expiring contract is one of the best in the league, and Henderson has the talent that a playoff team could use when that time of the year rolls around.

Expect one of them to be gone before the trade deadline hits.
