Elston Turner To Interview With Charlotte Bobcats

The Charlotte Bobcats will interview long-time NBA assistant coach Elston turner, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports. The Bobcats are expected to conduct interviews next week, following the team being linked to interviewing a number of candidates.

In the past five years, Turner has has interviewed for six head coaching vacancies in the NBA, but has never been hired.

Most recently Turner was an assistant for the Phoenix Suns. Reportedly, Turner was upset that he didn’t become the interim head coach for Phoenix after they dismissed Alvin Gentry, who’s also been linked to the Bobcats vacancy. Phoenix signed Turner in 2011 to help improve the Suns defense.

Turner has more than 14 years of experience as an assistant in the NBA. He’s made stops in Sacramento, Portland and Houston with the same title.

There were rumors last month that Turner could land in Minnesota as an assistant in a reunion with head coach Rick Adelman.

Turner joins Nate Tibbetts, Kelvin Sampson, and Alvin Gentry as the known candidates of the Bobcats job. Quin Snyder and Steve Clifford are also rumored to be candidates.
