As the clock ticks closer to the NBA Draft, no player seems to be safe from trade rumors
Sportswriter Joe Kotoch of Sheridan Hoops reports the Charlotte Bobcats are shopping forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Davis Williams of WFNZ dismisses the reports, citing a reliable source, who believes the Bobcats would not deal Kidd-Gilchrist.
Kotoch writes he Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors are among the teams interested in Kidd-Gilchrist. The Bobcats targeted Golden State forward Harrison Barnes, but the Warriors aren’t interested in dealing him.
The Bobcats are confident they will be able to replace Kidd-Gilchrist with Georgetown forward Otto Porter. The Washington Wizards are “determined” to select UNLV forward Anthony Bennett with the third pick in the draft, according to Kotoch. This would drop Porter into consideration for the fourth pick.
The Bobcats selected Kidd-Gilchrist with the second pick in last year’s draft. He averaged 9.0 ppg and 5.6 rebounds in 78 games and received All-Rookie 2nd team honors. There hasn’t been much trade talk surrounding the Bobcats in recent weeks. The feeling was that they were targeting a big man in the draft, but shopping Kidd-Gilchrist could mean otherwise.
