NBA Preseason: Bobcats Roll Past Cavaliers 92-74

After trailing by double digits in the second quarter, the Charlotte Bobcats beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 92-74 Tuesday night.

Charlotte’s backcourt anchored the team’s scoring, with four of the teams guards reaching double figures in scoring. Kemba Walker and Gerald Henderson combined for 27 points, while Ramon Sessions added 11 off the bench.

Ben Gordon had 10 points in 18 minutes and was ejected in the fourth quarter following a double technical. Jannero Pargo, the team’s leading scorer Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks, did not play.

The Bobcats shot 44% from the field, but continued their struggles from three at 28%. Charlotte attempted 39 free throws, but made just 69%.

Bismack Biyombo got his second preseason start in place of an injured Al Jefferson. Jefferson is expected to miss the remainder of preseason with a sprained ankle suffered Friday against the Miami Heat. Biyombo had 11 rebounds, reaching double digits in rebounds for the second straight game.

Josh McRoberts scored 11 points and started in place of Cody Zeller, who came off the bench. Zeller had 7 points and 9 rebounds in 26 minutes.

Kyrie Irving and C.J. Miles led the Cavaliers with 15 points apiece. Cleveland shot 35% and had 25 turnovers.

The first pick in the draft, Anthony Bennett, scored seven points in 20 minutes.

The Cavaliers were without starting center Anderson Varejao and veteran guard Jarrett Jack, who sat with inflammation in his left knee.

Charlotte will be back in action Thursday, when they host the Philadelphia 76ers from Time Warner Cable Arena. The game has an early start at 11:00 a.m.
