Al Jefferson Questionable for Bobcats Season Opener

The Charlotte Bobcats are listing Al Jefferson as questionable for the team’s season opener, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Following practice Monday, Jefferson told the media he believes he’ll play, but it will depend on how his ankle feels overnight. Jefferson participated in most of the team’s practice and was seen on a stationary bike during some parts.

The Bobcats have one practice remaining before the team heads to Houston.

Jefferson sprained his left ankle weeks ago in an exhibition game against the Miami Heat. It’s been speculated Jefferson would be ready for the team’s first game against the Houston Rockets Wednesday. The Bobcats could use Jefferson to matchup with Dwight Howard in the paint.

Jefferson has only missed 15 games in the past four seasons.

If Jefferson can’t go, Bismack Biyombo will likely start in his place. Biyombo had three double-digit rebound games during preseason as a starter. The third year center has shown some positive signs over the past few weeks and continues to work with assistant coach Patrick Ewing.
