Bobcats Return Home to Face Miami Heat

The Charlotte Bobcats return home Saturday night to Time Warner Cable Arena to face the defending champion Miami Heat.

The ‘Cats are seeking their third straight win after a nice come from behind victory in Cleveland thanks to a defensive effort that is beginning to define this 2013 Charlotte Bobcats team.

If the ‘Cats hope to continue their winning ways then they will have to do something they have never done, beat LeBron James‘ Miami Heat.

The Heat have won 12 straight dating back to March 9, 2010 and if the ‘Cats expect to snap this streak then they will have to stop the NBA’s most efficient offenses. Miami is leading the NBA in field goal percentage at 52.5% and are top 5 in points scored (107.1); which should provide a great test for a 5-4 Bobcats team that is in the top 5 in opponents scoring (93.2).

Matchups to Watch:

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist continues to develop into the player the ‘Cats were hoping for when they drafted him second overall, but since he entered the league his defense has defined him.  It will be that defense that is needed tonight as MKG will likely be tasked with defending LeBron James much of the evening.  In Cleveland MKG was everywhere; collecting rebounds and blocks, coming up with timely buckets and providing the type of spark this young team needed on the road.

Notable Absences From Tonight’s Game:

  • The Heat will be without sharp shooting legend Ray Allen tonight as he sits with an illness that has caused him to miss his last two games.
  • It is also likely that Dwyane Wade sits on the heels of back to back games as part of Miami’s strategy to keep him healthy throughout the season.
  • For the Bobcats it seems that Al Jefferson will again be out with an ankle injury that is not quite 100%.
