Utah Jazz (9-24)
Overview: Utah is playing better basketball since Trey Burke made his rookie debut in November. The Jazz are 8-13 with Burke in the lineup, compared to a 1-11 record without him. Burke’s production isn’t great so far, but he’s a large upgrade over their alternatives in John Lucas III and Diante Garrett. Burke scored 20 points in Utah’s 88-85 victory over the Bobcats last week. Burke’s backcourt mate Gordon Hayward is struggling in his last five games, shooting under 40 percent from the field and 3-point range.
Charlotte Bobcats (14-17)
Overview: Following a 24 point, 23 rebound performance in Atlanta, Al Jefferson returns to Salt Lake City, where he spent the three previous seasons of his career. Jeffeson had 19 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in the Bobcats loss to the Jazz last week, and the team will look to him for another big night. Jefferson is averaging 17.7 points and 11.6 rebounds in December. Kemba Walker will look to close out a hot month as well in Utah. Walker is averaging 21.6 points and shooting 46 percent from the field in December.
