Bobcats Acquire Neal and Ridnour from the Bucks

The Charlotte Bobcats have acquired Gary Neal, a 6’4″ shooting guard whom they have been rumored to covet for some time.  Neal is expected to upgrade the perimeter shooting significantly as the Bobcats prepare for their second ever playoff push.  Neal is averaging just over 10 points per game and 36% shooting from 3 point range, for his career he is a 39% shooter from long range.  Along with Neal the ‘Cats acquired Luke Ridnour who is expected to split the backup point guard duties with Janero Pargo. Ridnour is a capable shooter and should provide needed bench depth for the playoff push.

So who did the ‘Cats have to give up for this upgraded shooting?  As expected Ramon Sessions is on the first flight out of Charlotte now, his expiring 5 million dollar contract was a trade chip that many assumed would be moved as the deadline drew near.  It was rumored the ‘Cats were pushing for a straight deal between Sessions and Gary Neal, but with Neal’s $3.2 million dollar salary the Bucks were unwilling to assume the increased financial obligations.  Thus, Jeff Adrien will be leaving the Bobcats and Luke Ridnour will be on his way out of Milwaukee to make the money exchanged a bit more palatable.
