Rumors: Charlotte Hornets to trade for Arron Afflalo?

There is a ton of buzz around Charlotte with the return of the Charlotte Hornets (no pun intended) and everyone is excited about the upcoming season.

Charlotte is coming off a great year in which the team managed to make the playoffs, and they are looking to make a deeper run into the postseason next year. One way the Hornets can improve is through the NBA Draft. Charlotte currently owns the 9th overall pick, along with the 24th and 45th.

Doug McDermott, Dario Saric, Gary Harris, and Nik Stauskas are all possibilities with the No.9 pick. They are all great, young and talented players, but if Charlotte has an opportunity to trade this pick for an established player, should they do it?

What if that “established player” is current Orlando Magic guard Arron Afflalo? I say yes.

Last season Arron Afflalo averaged 18 points a game, and he is exactly what the Hornets need. A 2-guard who can put the ball on the floor and score. Afflalo is only 28 years old, and will turn 29 before the season starts. He is still fairly young and has room to grow as a player.

Here’s a video of Arron Afflalo hurting the Bobcats, forcing overtime:

This could become a serious possibility if the Orlando Magic select Australian point guard Dante Exum with their 1st round pick. If they do, they would have Dante Exum and Victor Oladipo, not leaving much room for Arron Afflalo. Plus the Magic will highly value Charlotte’s 9th overall pick, as they are in rebuilding mode.

What do you think Hornets fans? Should Charlotte trade the 9th pick for Arron Afflalo?
