Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan has made the point very clear that he is willing to open up his wallet to try to improve the team for next season. The-then Bobcats made the playoffs last season, and are looking to build off of that success next year.
Names like Carmelo Anthony, Lance Stephenson, Gordon Hayward, and Chandler Parsons have came up as possibilities, but rumor has it that the Hornets might have another player in mind: Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol.
The combination of Al Jefferson and Pau Gasol would be an elite duo, and would make the Charlotte Hornets much better, especially if the team is unable to resign Josh McRoberts. Here is one of Gasol’s best games from this past season, when he scored 23 points and grabbed 18 rebounds:
It signs kind of far-fetched to think Pau Gasol would come to the Charlotte Hornets, but after you think about it…it really isn’t.
The Lakers are clearly in rebuilding mode, and Gasol isn’t exactly the youngest player in the NBA, which means he really isn’t in the Lakers long-term plans. It would be kind of weird to see Gasol leave L.A., as he is well-liked by Kobe Bryant.
Charlotte might be able to offer Pau Gasol more money too, but probably only if they strike out on Lance Stephenson, Greg Monroe, Chandler Parsons or Gordon Hayward. Gasol would be a nice addition, but personally I would rather sign any of the other players that I mentioned, especially Stephenson.
What do you think Hornets fans? Should Charlotte look into signing Pau Gasol? Is he worth over-paying? Let your voice be heard in the comment section below!
