After hosting Rodney Hood and P.J. Hairston yesterday, the Charlotte Hornets hosted some more Pre-Draft workouts in preparation for the upcoming NBA Draft next week. Here are a list of the players who worked out for Charlotte on Wednesday:
The 2 marquee names on that list everyone is talking about is UCLA’s Zach LaVine and Michigan State’s Gary Harris.
Gary Harris had a great sophomore season with Michigan State, as he averaged 16 points per game, and 4 rebounds. Harris’ season high for points came against rival Michigan on January 25th, as he scored 27 points. Despite the great game from Gary Harris, Michigan State went on to lose that game though by the score of 80 to 75.
Zach LaVine on the other hand did not have as good of a season as Gary Harris did. LaVine finished the season averaging 9 points per game, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. For a guard, averaging only 1 assist per game is inexcusable.
In UCLA’s three NCAA tournament games, Zach LaVine only scored 8 points combined in those 3 games. 8! 2 points against Tulsa, 1 point against Stephen F. Austin, and 5 points in the Sweet 16 loss to Florida.
His best game of the season came against Nevada earlier in the year, when he scored 21 points in the game, making 4 out of 6 three-point attempts.
Here are the scouting videos on Gary Harris and Zach LaVine:
If I had to choose between the 2 players, I would still choose Zach LaVine over Gary Harris. Despite LaVine not having a great season with UCLA, he still has a higher ceiling than Harris. In other words, he has more superstar potential.
Zach LaVine is also the better athlete. If you don’t believe me, take a look at this:
