Brian Roberts: Getting to know the new Hornet

The Charlotte Hornets have made a few minor moves in the last few days. Marvin Williams signed a 2 year deal with Charlotte, and so did point guard Brian Roberts.

When I first heard of the news that the Charlotte Hornets signed Brian Roberts, I didn’t know who he was. In fact, I thought of Brian Roberts the baseball player, the former Baltimore Oriole, and current New York Yankee 2nd basemen.

Apparently Brett Thompson of Swarm and Sting thought the same thing:

Unless you are a New Orleans Pelicans fan, you might not be familiar with Brian Roberts.

Roberts spent his college days at the University of Dayton. Yes, the Dayton Flyers that were the Cinderella team this year that went to the Elite 8.

Before coming to the NBA, Roberts played overseas in Israel from 2008-2009, and in Germany from 2009-2012.

Brian Roberts started in 42 games last year for the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging 9 points per game, and 3 assists. His season high for points was 20, scoring that against the-then Charlotte Bobcats. Now, Charlotte has him on their side.

Was signing Brian Roberts a good move for the Charlotte Hornets? Is he the backup point guard the Hornets needed? Let your voice be heard in the comment section below!

Here is the game in which Brian Roberts scored 20 points against the Bobcats:
