When I got out of bed and heard the news that the Charlotte Hornets had signed Lance Stephenson to a contract, I thought I was having some sort of dream. I kinda slapped myself a few times to make sure I was really awake.
Words cannot describe how happy I was to see Lance Stephenson sign with Charlotte. He’s a great fit, and I believe the fans will absolutely LOVE him. Lance will make them dance in Charlotte!
Michael Jordan promised before the start of free agency that he would sign a “super-star” to the Hornets, well, HE WAS NOT LYING.
At least the Indiana Pacers can’t match the offer like the Utah Jazz did on Gordon Hayward, right?
Lance Stephenson isn’t a super-star yet, but he is a All-Star caliber player, and one of the biggest names on the free agent market.
Lance is exactly what the Charlotte Hornets needed. A back-court of Kemba Walker and Lance Stephenson will be fun to watch. The Big 3 of Kemba, Lance, and Al Jefferson will put the Hornets into immediate contention in the Eastern Conference.
Yes, Lance has had a troubled past, but I think he is a great addition. Now you have Lance and P.J. Hairston in the same locker room, not only will the Hornets be a show on the court, but they will be off-the-court as well.
One of the most underrated parts of Lance Stephenson’s game is that he is a great rebounder. He averaged 7 rebounds per game last season, and led the entire NBA in triple-doubles.
I absolutely love the signing. Charlotte didn’t over-pay to get him, and it is only for 3 years. Lance will be loved in Charlotte. He doesn’t back down to anyone (not even LeBron James) and he brings a lot of energy to the team. He might have some off-the-court issues, but I think he can mature and put those things behind him…hopefully.
