One of the biggest stories around the NBA right now is the possible blockbuster trade between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Minnesota Timberwolves, involving Kevin Love.
Ever since last week when LeBron James announced that he is coming home, the media has been speculating a possible trade that would send Kevin Love to Cleveland, forming a Big 3 featuring LeBron James, Kevin Love, and Kyrie Irving. Who could pass up the opportunity to have all 3 of those players on the same team?
Well, it’s not as easy of a decision as you might think. The Cavaliers drafted Andrew Wiggins with the Number 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, and in order to trade for Kevin Love, the Cavaliers must give them Wiggins.
Andrew Wiggins has had a stellar summer league so far, if you don’t believe me, check this out:
Wiggins definitely has a bright future, but that is the question right now. Do you trade away your future to win now? What is more important? Winning now with LeBron? Or the future after LeBron is out of his prime, or not on the team anymore?
Andrew Wiggins is only 19 years old right now. He has a lot of time to grow as a player. What better way to groom Wiggins than putting him under the wing of LeBron James? LeBron can show him the ropes, and help develop him into an NBA All-Star we all think he could be one day.
But is LeBron willing to do that right now? He has made it clear he wants to win now. Reports have came out that LeBron James has spoken out to Kevin Love about the possibility of joining him in Cleveland.
Trading for Kevin Love would definitely put the Cavaliers as the clear favorite in the Eastern Conference, and the favorite to win the NBA Finals. But is Andrew Wiggins’ future too bright to trade away?
I really don’t know how to answer that. Wiggins, Kyrie, and LeBron would be an awesome trio, but is Andrew Wiggins ready to perform on the big stage RIGHT NOW? If the Cavaliers want to win a championship in the next 2-3 years, they must trade for Kevin Love.
