Brian Roberts officially signs with Hornets

On Wednesday the Charlotte Hornets made the signing of point guard Brian Roberts official.

The signing of Brian Roberts kind of fell under-the-radar, especially after the team signed Lance Stephenson and Marvin Williams.

Last year with the New Orleans Pelicans, Roberts averaged 9 points per game, averaging a little over 20 minutes of playing time. Roberts will be serving as Kemba Walker’s backup, so he will have a similar role with Charlotte as he did with New Orleans.

Brian Roberts was excited to be a Hornet, but he said it was a little weird:

“I tried so hard not to say ‘Hornets’ in New Orleans, as we were switching to the Pelicans, it’s a reversal now.”

Brian Roberts is exactly what the Charlotte Hornets needed…a backup point guard. He fits their up-tempo style of play, and he has plenty of experience, while still being a young player.
