If you haven’t seen a replay of Paul George’s injury yet, you’re lucky.
Unless you enjoy watching gruesome leg injuries, I recommend not watching it.
Paul George will obviously miss the entire 2014-2015 NBA season with the Indiana Pacers. It is a big blow not only to the Pacers, but to the entire NBA family, you never want to see someone get hurt like that, whether you are a fan of them or not.
In addition to losing Paul George, the Pacers also lost Lance Stephenson to the Charlotte Hornets. Right now it looks like it may be a long season for the Indiana Pacers.
Despite losing Stephenson, the Pacers still had enough talent on the roster to contend next season. After losing Paul George, it doesn’t seem as likely.
Before the Paul George injury, I still had the Pacers in the Top 4-5 teams in the Eastern Conference, now they’ll be lucky to finish above .500
How does that affect the Hornets? Well, it only helps their chances to win a playoff series this year, and finish in the Top 5, or maybe better, in the East.
After the Paul George injury, this is my projected Eastern Conference standings:
1. Cleveland Cavaliers
2. Chicago Bulls
3. Toronto Raptors
4. Washington Wizards
5. Charlotte Hornets
6. Miami Heat
7. Brooklyn Nets
8. Detroit Pistons
It was tough making that list of playoff teams. I think the Atlanta Hawks have a great shot at returning to the playoffs, but with the East being a lot deeper than it was last year, you have to leave someone out. I also have the New York Knicks missing out on the playoffs for the second straight season.
The Detroit Pistons are my sleeper team. Look for Andre Drummond to have a breakout season, and Stan Van Gundy to have a great 1st year as the head coach.
