If you follow LeBron James on Instagram, you might have noticed something about some of his most recent pictures he has posted. What’s different about him?
He’s lost a lot of weight.
Here is the picture of LeBron that has been going viral across the internet:

Some photos can be deceiving, but it appears he has lost a lot of weight. Here is what he looked like a few months ago, something to compare it to:

First of all, that’s an insane workout, carrying that giant tire like it’s nothing. But, he does look heavier in that photo, he has definitely lost some weight since that photo was taken. He’s done more than just lose some weight, he’s slimming down.
One of the reasons why LeBron bulked up was so he could play more PF with the Miami Heat. They definitely needed him to play a good chunk of minutes in the post. In his 4 years in South Beach, they never had a true big man, sorry Chris Bosh.
If the Cleveland Cavaliers needed LeBron to play PF next year, why is he losing weight? Well, he maybe they don’t need him to play in the post.
Rumors around the league have it that the Cavaliers and the Minnesota Timberwolves are close to a trade that would send Kevin Love to Cleveland, and Andrew Wiggins to Minnesota. The only problem is that they have to wait a few more weeks until Wiggins can actually be traded.
Another rumor, that has been confirmed by Andrew Wiggins, is that LeBron James has yet to speak to him since he decided to return to Cleveland on July 11th.
“I’m sure he’s busy, I feel like I’m busy, so I’m sure he’s busy,” said Andrew Wiggins.
Yes, he might be busy Andrew, but there is a reason LeBron isn’t talking to you. Because by the time the season starts, you will not be his teammate, because you will be playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Back to the main question, why is LeBron James losing so much weight?
Because he knows the Kevin Love trade is pretty much a done deal. He knows it’s going down.
He knows with the addition of Love, Cleveland won’t need him to play as much in the post, so he’s losing weight to be able to play more on the perimeter.
Is it the right move to trade Wiggins for Love? Well, that’s a different story, but the trade is going to happen.
Another thing that is worth mentioning is that LeBron never mentioned Andrew Wiggins in his “Coming Home” essay he had published in Sports Illustrated. He mentioned Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson, and Anderson Varejao, but not Andrew Wiggins.
LeBron has reportedly reached out to Kevin Love, so that says it all. If he talks to Love before he talks to Wiggins, that makes the trade look even more likely.
What do you think? Is LeBron losing weight a coincidence? Or is he losing weight to play more perimeter next season, and make room for Kevin Love? Let us know what you think in the comment section below!
