Alonzo Mourning inducted into Hall of Fame

In case you haven’t heard, the Charlotte Hornets are back! The Charlotte Bobcats days are FINALLY over, as they never had much success on the basketball court. It was time for a change, and no change is better than bringing the good ole Charlotte Hornets name back.

One of the biggest names of the old Charlotte Hornets was center Alonzo Mourning.

The Hornets selected Mourning with the 2nd overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft. Although Alonzo Mourning wasn’t a Hornet for very long, he was still a big part of the Charlotte Hornet history. Mourning was traded to the Miami Heat in 1995, and stayed in Miami until 2002, and returned with the Heat from 2005-2008.

Alonzo Mourning might be known for playing with the Miami Heat rather than the Charlotte Hornets, but again, he’s still a part of the Hornet history.

Not only is Mourning a Hornet and Heat legend, but he’s an NBA legend. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, and he was most definitely deserving of that honor.

Who could forget Alonzo Mourning’s buzzer beater? Which was probably the biggest shot in the history of the Charlotte Hornets:
