The Carolina Panthers lost their preseason opener to the Buffalo Bills on Friday night by the score of 20 to 18.
Carolina was without star QB Cam Newton in that game, as he was resting his injured ankle.
Fear not Panthers fans, according to a report, Cam Newton has been medically cleared to play in the next preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Just because he has been medically cleared doesn’t mean that Head coach Ron Rivera has to play him, but it seems that all signs point to Cam Newton being on the field Sunday night when the Panthers take on the Chiefs in a nationally televised preseason game.
“Cam is on track to do the things we need him to do now” said coach Ron Rivera. “We’ve mapped out a lot of things. We’re now getting to the point where the work load is going to increase and things are going to change and we’re going to do things differently now.”
The Panthers first team offense struggled in the preseason opener, so the addition of Cam Newton, Jonathan Stewart, and DeAngelo Williams should help Carolina get things going offensively.
Although the Panthers lost the opener, there was a bright spot in rookie WR Kelvin Benjamin. If you haven’t seen his touchdown catch, do yourself a favor and check this out:
