The theme of this NBA off-season has been “going home.”
LeBron James decided to leave the Miami Heat in order to return to his hometown team the Cleveland Cavaliers. There have been rumors of other NBA superstars looking to do the same thing.
There have been rumors that Kevin Durant could be looking to go home to the Washington Wizards in 2016 when he becomes a free agent. Another rumor is that Durant might be leaving Nike to sign with Under Armor, who is offering Durant a lot of money. Under Armor’s headquarters are in Maryland, close to the Washington Wizards, so that makes Durant to the Wizards even more of a possibility.
Another superstar that has been linked to coming home is Golden State Warriors PG Stephen Curry.
As we all know, Stephen Curry’s dad Dell Curry is a former Charlotte Hornets player. Dell played in Charlotte for 10 years, and playing for his dad’s team and hometown team might sound intriguing to Steph:
“I’ve always had thoughts about playing at home, what it would be like,” Stephen Curry said. “My dad played there for 10 years, and people around the Greater Charlotte area in North Carolina have done a lot for my family growing up, so you always think about it. Right now I feel like I’ve got 3 years left on my deal, so this isn’t going to be an issue for me for a while. I love the Bay Area and where we are as a team trying to win a championship, and that’s what it’s all about. Of course everybody dreams about or thinks about what it’s going to be like to play at home. Obviously if that opportunity comes along it’s a different discussion.”
Come home, Stephen Curry. The Charlotte Hornets will welcome you with open arms.
