Team USA to take on Brazil Saturday night

Things have not been going so well for Team USA here lately.

We all know about Paul George’s gruesome leg injury, but Team USA is dealing with a lot more than that. They have had to deal with the withdraws of Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, and Kawhi Leonard.

What do all of those players have in common?

They are all forwards. Ouch.

Team USA is going to have to play more small ball now. The projected starting lineup is now Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry, James Harden, Rudy Gay, and Anthony Davis.

Right now the starting lineup consists of 2 point guards (Rose and Curry), a shooting guard (Harden), a small forward (Gay), and a center who plays a lot of PF (Davis). Not a big team to say the least, but it might just be big enough. It’s also a very young team, the oldest player in the lineup is Rudy Gay, who is 27 years of age.

You can watch Team USA take on Brazil at 9 o clock eastern time on ESPN. It will be interesting to see how Team USA responds to all the distractions that have been surrounding them the last few weeks. Despite all the injuries and withdraws they have faced, they should still be able to win tonight’s game, and be one of the favorites to win the FIBA World Championship, along with Spain.
