The dynamic duo of Kemba Walker and Frank Kaminsky led the Charlotte Hornets past the Lakers in Los Angeles.

The Charlotte Hornets were able to bounce back from a hard loss in overtime to the Los Angeles Clippers with a good closeout win against the Los Angeles Lakers. Steve Clifford’s side has started to come alive in the fourth quarter as of late. They must continue doing so as consistency is key during their current six-game road trip.

Our player of the game is Kemba Walker. The All-Star point guard proved his worth with his playmaking and clutch shots. Ever since the all-star break, Kemba has looked very confident in his three-point shots. If Walker continues to play like he is, the playoffs will seem a lot closer to the Hornets as they battle for a spot in the East.

Kemba Walker (A+)

30 PTS 7 AST 5 REBS

Kemba was on fire in this game.  He knocked down five triples and made all of his seven free throws. Walker has proven time and time again that he has “Ice in his veins” with clutch shots at the end of games. If there is one person we want to have the ball at the game, it has to be Kemba. This was his second straight 30-point game.

More from Swarm and Sting

Nicolas Batum (B-)

5 PTS 4 AST 7 REBS

Nic had a bad shooting night. He wasn’t able to get anything going offensively. Batum wasn’t able to provide a lot of playmaking in the game but he did make some key plays. Many may not agree with this grade for this game but Nic came in the clutch with a huge block at the end of the game and that has to count for something. Nicolas may not have good shooting nights but he sure finds a way to have a big impact in a game.

Frank Kaminsky (A+)

24 PTS 3 AST 12 REBS

Kaminsky balled out in this one at the starting five spot. Even though Cody had a minutes restriction, Frank came in the clutch and made many game-changing shots. He made all four of his free throws and was able to knock down four three’s. Kaminsky has become a star on the team, and he proves his worth with another double-double. One would even go as far to say that he’s the current secondary scoring option.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (B)

10 PTS 1 AST 5 REBS

MKG had a solid game on the offensive side of the court. He provided very aggressive defense by stealing the ball twice and by blocking a shot. Kidd-Gilchrist has supreme potential on defense but everytime his offense heats up, he becomes a nightmare for opposing teams. Michael was not able to get his double-double with rebounds but we can expect him to own the glass in the next game against the Phoenix Suns.

More from Hornets News

Marvin Williams (A-)

16 PTS 2 AST 6 REBS

Marvin played through a sore shoulder and provided a shooting spark. He was second behind Kemba with four made three-pointers. Williams is a great spot up shooter and when he is able to knock down the three ball consistently, it really draws the defense to him and opens up many opportunities for the Hornets’ offense. It can also be noted that Marvin ended the game with two blocks on the defensive side of the court.

Cody Zeller (B-)

6 PTS 1 AST 5 REBS

Coming back from a quad injury, Cody came out and provided quality minutes. The box score may not show it but Zeller did his usual dirty work with boxouts and solid screens. The return of Cody is something that teams will soon fear in the pick and roll game with Kemba.

Marco Belinelli (C)

11 PTS 5 AST 2 REBS

In this game, Marco was one of the bench leaders with his scoring. Every night it seems that he comes out and provides a scoring punch for the Hornets. His playmaking ability led to some good offense as he piled up five assists.

Brian Roberts (C+)

4 PTS 2 AST 1 REBS

Brian isn’t a big time scorer but he did make some flashy passes and proved that he is a great game manager. Everytime that Kemba goes to the bench, Roberts manages the game well and doesn’t let it get out of hand which buys time for Walker to rest. Although, it may be time to try Briante Weber because Brian has largely been ineffective.

Jeremy Lamb (C-)

3 PTS 0 AST 3 REBS

This was an oddly quiet game for Lamb. He didn’t have his usual scoring impact. Despite that, he made some good plays and didn’t hurt the team too much. All in all, Charlotte was able to get the win without his scoring off the bench.

Next: Why Briante Weber is the Answer at Backup PG

After a great win against the LA Lakers, the Charlotte Hornets will have to bring their A-game as they travel to Pheonix to take on the Suns on March 2nd. This will be the first time the Hornets face the Suns this season. They must try to stop Devin Booker and attempt to string together a couple of wins.
