Welcome to Buzz City Beat, a daily roundup of the latest and greatest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

After two days off, the Charlotte Hornets should be well rested as they host the Boston Celtics in their home finale. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at Muggsy Bogues talking about the team, the purple shirt guy still talking trash and the NBA expecting to play an All-Star Game in Charlotte.

"I think they’re a player or two away, but Coach Clifford got them guys playing competitive basketball, no-quit basketball even to the end, even though they’re out of the playoffs today."

Hornets’ legend, Muggsy Bogues, talked about the rise of the Golden State Warriors and little dudes in the NBA over the past few years. Although, he did answer a couple of questions regarding Charlotte at the end of the article. He spoke about his relationship, or lack thereof, with Kemba Walker but had nothing but praise for the all-star point guard’s growth and improvement.

While Bogues believes the Hornets are a player or two away from truly contending, he also thinks that they need a big man who can bring a solid interior presence to the team. He commended Frank Kaminsky and Cody Zeller but still think a true big man that is “a little more intimidating” would help Charlotte. In a statement we all can agree with, Muggsy very blatantly said, “Kemba needs help.”

Purple Shirt Guy Still Loves Talking Trash (CharlotteObserver.com)

"At the Bulls game in December, “I didn’t say anything to Dwyane Wade. I did wink at him, though, and he did see me. We had a moment. But he wasn’t smiling.”"

Everyone remember the “purple shirt guy” for all the wrong reasons. After the moment he had with D-Wade in last year’s playoffs, many blamed him for Charlotte’s game-seven loss. He didn’t renew his season tickets this season so the Hornets’ poor play this year can’t be blamed on him.

Even though he has only gone to a couple of games this season, the purple shit guy still loves talking trash whether it be at home in front of the TV or at whatever sporting event he attends. He did talk about which NBA players’ heads he used to like getting inside.

NBA Expects to Play All-Star Game in Charlotte (BizJournals.com)

"“It’s not a done deal yet,” Silver said. “What it means is we now need to go back to Charlotte and ensure that, one, all of our typical requirements are satisfied, so that process hasn’t begun yet. And then, in addition, we’re going to develop an anti-discrimination policy and then ask all of our participating partners to sign on to that policy. If those requirements are met, it’s our expectation the All-Star festivities will be there for 2019.”"

Even though nothing is guaranteed for the 2019 All-Star Game, the NBA announcing that Charlotte is “eligible” to host the event is a step in that direction. The league clearly wants to give the Hornets and the city an All-Star Game, it is just a matter of when. Once all of the legal issues are resolved, expect The Queen City to be hosting the star-studded exhibition for the first time since 1991.
