Welcome to Buzz City Beat, a daily roundup of the latest and greatest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

The second round of the playoffs gets underway between the Wizards and the Celtics while the Clippers and Jazz face off in a crucial game seven. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at Marvin Williams‘ second half surge for the Charlotte Hornets, Ramon Sessions talking about missing the postseason and the possibility of Nicolas Batum playing for France this summer.

Marvin Williams Post All-Star Game Surge for Charlotte (NBA.com)

"The 30-year-old Williams eventually exploded into the second half of the season, tallying averages of 11.6 points on 45.7 percent shooting, 8.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 block in his final 26 appearances. Of the career-high 11 double-doubles that Williams recorded this season, eight of them came after March 1."

The veteran power forward was arguably the Hornets’ second best player for the second half of the season. He regained his form and finally looked like the Williams that we saw during the 2015-16 season. Ending the year on a high note, hopefully, Marvin can carry that momentum into next year.

Even though he started slow and the first half of the season was largely forgettable for Marvin, he managed to play well after the All-Star Break. For whatever reason, he found a way to turn things around. His consistent play was needed to help out Kemba Walker and it was almost enough to get Charlotte into the playoffs.

Ramon Sessions Talks Missing Playoffs and His Knee (RGI.com)

"“For us, we didn’t have the season we wanted to have. Three weeks left in the season we were only two or three games out, so we gave ourselves a chance and that’s all you can do over an 82-game season.”"

Sessions recently talked about a number of things while back at his alma mater (the University of Nevada). Even though Charlotte did give themselves a chance to make the playoffs down the stretch, they never really came close. They would also get close enough to keep hope alive but never close enough to actually be a legitimate threat to make the postseason.

The veteran point guard also said that his knee is “100 percent ready to go.” He claimed that the team simply ran out of games and that is why he didn’t play for the final six-plus weeks. It is good news that his knee is healed as Ramon will likely hit the free agent market this summer.

Will Nic Batum Play for France This Summer? (FIBA.com)

"Despite Nicolas Batum hinting that he will not play this summer, Collet has included the Charlotte Hornets star."

France announced a list of 37 players who are committed to playing with the national team and Batum’s name showed up on the list. Although, this does not mean Nic will play for France this summer because this list of players is for upcoming competitions through 2020. So while Nicolas will miss EuroBasket 2017, he could rejoin the national team next year.
