After a solid sophomore season at Indiana University, Thomas Bryant could be a potential second round option for the Charlotte Hornets.

According to Alex Bozich of InsideTheHall.com, draft prospect Thomas Bryant met with the Charlotte Hornets at the combine. He also met with the New York Knicks, the Boston Celtics, the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Utah Jazz and the Detroit Pistons. The big man is projected to be an early second round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

DraftExpress.com has Bryant being drafted 34th overall in the second round to the Sacramento Kings. As for NBADraft.net, they have him going undrafted. It seems to be a guess as to where he could land as Thomas could realistically go anywhere from late in the first round to being undrafted.

Based on those projections, Charlotte might be able to grab him with their second round pick. They currently hold the 41st overall pick and it wouldn’t be all that surprising if he fell to them. For most second round picks, it is a guess as to where they will land.

More from Swarm and Sting

At the NBA Draft Combine, the 19-year old center measured in at 6’10¾” with shoes and 248 pounds with a 7’6″ wingspan and 9’4.5″ standing reach. He also had a 25.5″ no step vertical and a 33″ max vertical. He did not take part in the five on five scrimmages but has individual workouts planned with some teams. (InsideTheHall.com)

During his sophomore season under Tom Crean, Bryant averaged 12.6 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game. He was also able to get things done on the defensive end by averaging 1.5 blocks per game in 34 appearances with the Hoosiers. Indiana only went 18-16 this past year but Thomas was a bright spot for them.

At only 19, Bryant is still very raw. He isn’t great on either end of the floor but his high motor and length will help carry him through the early stages of his professional career. Eventually, his defense and offense will develop but it could take a year or two in the D-League for that to happen.

Next: Taking a look at potential second round prospects

It is unclear if the Charlotte Hornets will bring Thomas in for an individual workout but that would be a smart move by them so that they could get a close look at the young big man. It will be interesting to see who takes a chance on Bryant during the draft. He could potentially be a steal if he pans out in a couple of years.
