The Charlotte Hornets got another addition to their summer league team as Quinton Stephens is set to play for them in Orlando.

Quinton Stephens has confirmed to me that he will play for the Charlotte Hornets during the Orlando Pro Summer League. The 6’9 power forward out of Georgia Tech went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft but his professional career is far from over. The Hornets already had one look at Quinton as they hosted him for a pre-draft workout on June 13th.

It was reported on June 20th by RamblinWreck.com that Stephens would be landing in China to train with the Shenzhen Leopards for three months. There must’ve been a quick change of plans because he is now scheduled to play with Charlotte’s summer league team. It is unclear at this time if he will travel back to China after his time in Orlando.

During his senior year at Georgia Tech, the 22-year old averaged 10.4 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game and 2.2 assists per game. He managed to shoot 37.5% from the field, 31.6% from three and 68.8% from the free throw line. Quinton was fourth on the team in scoring, second in rebounds and first in made three’s.

More from Swarm and Sting

At 6’9, he has great length for a stretch four but his rather slender frame (196), could make him more of a small forward at the NBA level. Although, Stephens has shown that he can handle much bigger players in college and that he can play both forward spots. Stephens is a versatile player who offers an intriguing skill set.

The Atlanta native will now have a chance to impress the Hornets as well as other NBA teams at the summer league.

Stephens will join the Hornets’ two draft picks in Malik Monk and Dwayne Bacon in Orlando. Przemek Karnowski (Gonzaga), Tai Webster (Nebraska), Mangok Mathiang (Louisville) and Anthony Gill (Yeşilgiresun) are the other undrafted rookies who will also play for Charlotte.

Johnny O’Bryant, Treveon Graham and Briante Weber are three players who are already under contract with the team but will still play in summer league.

The Orlando Pro Summer League is set to start on July 1st with the Hornets opening things up against the Miami Heat. Each team will play a total of five games and the event will run through July 6th. Quinton will be looking to earn a training camp invite.
