Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the best articles from around the internet surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.

Ex-Bobcat Boris Diaw is expected to be waived the Utah Jazz if they can not find a trade partner for the veteran big man. (ESPN.com) In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the Charlotte Hornets‘ versatile duo, the expiration of Troy Daniels‘ trade exception and Marlene Hendricks wins the inaugural NBA customer service award.

Charlotte’s versatile duo (Twitter/ @Hornets)

"Nicolas Batum and Michael Carter-Williams are 2 of the 6 #NBA players to average at least 13.0p, 5.0r, 5.0a and 1.0s over the last four seasons"

The only other four players to put up those numbers from the start of the 2013-14 season til now are James Harden, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. (Basketball-Reference.com) That puts Batum and MCW in elite company. Although they aren’t on the same level as any of the other four superstars, it just shows how Nic and Michael can both impact the game in multiple facets.

Based on his play last year, Batum is on pace to reach those averages once again. As for Carter-Williams, he will need a huge resurgence next season after averaging career-lows with the Bulls during the 2016-17 campaign. The Charlotte Hornets now have two players who can fill up the stat sheet and can be a triple-double threat when given the playing time.

Troy Daniels’ trade exception expires (BasketballInsiders.com)

"Trade Exception (Troy Daniels, expiring 7/12/17) — $1,666,470"

After completing a sign-and-trade last summer that sent Daniels to the Memphis Grizzles, Charlotte received a $1.6 million trade exception. They could’ve used that exception to help facilitate a trade but as the July 12th deadline passed, it went unused. That means that the Hornets essentially got nothing in return for dealing Troy last year.

As the deadline for the exception drew closer, there was little hope that the team would get a last minute trade done to use it. Although, it doesn’t hurt them all that much as Charlotte already has most of their roster in place and the exception was rather small. Any trade from here on out would have to match salaries and the Hornets won’t have an exception to use.

Hornets’ Marlene Hendricks receives NBA Customer Service Award (NBA.com)

"The NBA on Wednesday named Hornets Sports & Entertainment Vice President of Guest Services & Event Staffing Marlene Hendricks the winner of the inaugural Pete Winemiller Guest Experience Innovation Award."

Next: Hornets interested in multiple big men

First Kemba Walker wins the NBA’s Sportsmanship Award and now another member of the Hornets’ family, Marlene Hendricks, receives an NBA award. Making it even more special is that this was the first year the award was given. This honor speaks to the time and effort the organization has put into building a memorable experience for their fans.
