3. Extending Cody Zeller‘s contract

4th overall pick from the 2013 Draft, Cody Zeller signed a four-year, $56-million dollar contract extension last October. At first sight, it doesn’t appear to be a particularly needle-moving transaction, but Zeller is one of the team’s most important players.

The Hornets posted a 3-17 record without him, and the value he provides with interior defense and excellent screens is immeasurable.

The contract is incredible when considering the landscape of the league at the time as well. Although Steven Adams posted remarkably similar stats to Zeller, Adams is paid almost 44 million dollars more than Zeller.

Cho’s extension came at a time when contracts were exploding around the league, and this bargain deal will ensure success in Buzz City for some time to come.
