Charlotte Hornets: Ranking Rich Cho’s best moves as GM
By Noah Elmore
2. Signing Steve Clifford
When Rich Cho took the helm in Charlotte, Paul Silas was in the middle of coaching a horrendous roster to a 32-88 record over three years. Following that, an underwhelming Mike Dunlap coached for a season, before Clifford was finally installed in 2013.
Posting a .488 W/L record since his hiring, Clifford has coached the Hornets to two playoff appearances. Additionally, Clifford has won Eastern Conference Coach of the Month twice, proving himself as a high caliber NBA coach.
His pinnacle though, came two seasons ago, when he came in fourth place for Coach of the Year voting. By finding Clifford, Cho implemented a cornerstone coach for Charlotte and aided the team for years to come.
