The 2019 NBA Draft is fast approaching for the Charlotte Hornets, so the Swarm and Sting experts dish out their first mock draft of the season.

If the Charlotte Hornets miss out on the playoffs, the focus will instantly switch to the off-season and the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Hornets would obviously rather not be in the lottery, but it is what it is, and adding another young talent will be important for a franchise that could be hitting the reset button during the summer, especially if Kemba Walker signs elsewhere in free agency.

We all know that Zion Williamson is going to be the number one pick come June, but after him, things are going to get interesting. The Hornets will likely have a late lottery pick, and they should be able to land a good prospect.

Last year, the Hornets selected Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with the 11th overall pick, but ended up trading him to the Clippers in exchange for Miles Bridges and two future second round pick. They also picked Devonte’ Graham 34th overall and Arnoldas Kulboka 55th overall.

It was Mitch Kupchak’s first draft with the Hornets, and he certainly did a good job. We will see if he can repeat that success with this years draft class, which has caught they eye of many around the league.
