With the New York Knicks reportedly shopping the #4 overall selection, why should the Charlotte Hornets look to trade up?

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks pick is very available:

Assuming that is true, and there is no reason not to since Wojnarowski is a very well known and respected NBA newsbroker, then the Charlotte Hornets should at least consider the possibility of trading up.

The asking price for that pick is unknown, but given that it is the dysfunctional Knicks being discussed, anything is possible. They could be asking for 10 future first rounders or maybe they are trading it for a one year rental of a player like Andrea Bargnani.

Either way, it is important for Charlotte to at least give team president Phil Jackson a call to gauge his interest in some of the peripheral pieces of the team. Heck, for the #4 pick, no one on the roster is untouchable.

So with all of that in mind, here are three reasons the Hornets should trade up in the draft.
