After a season that saw the Charlotte Hornets stumble, they are poised to rebound and get back to being a competitive organization. The hope is that their choice with the second overall pick in the most recent draft, Brandon Miller, can become a contributor and combine to make a 1-2 punch with fellow backcourt mate LaMelo Ball.

The possibility that restricted free agent P.J. Washington returns to Charlotte is high, per a recent report. With or without Washington in the fold, the Hornets are hoping for much better results in 2023-24 with at least finding a way to be in the mix for the Play-In Tournament.

Two games are missing on every schedule, and each team that fails to make it to the knockout stage of the In-Season Tournament will make up those games on December 6th and 8th.

Schedule Analysis

Hoping to see the Charlotte Hornets on national TV? There are only a handful of chances this season. Charlotte has just four nationally televised games at the current moment, tied with Houston, Detroit, and Washington for the second-fewest behind Toronto’s three. In comparison, half of Golden State’s entire schedule will be on national television this season, the most in the NBA.

There are a couple of stretches that stand out for the Charlotte Hornets. A span of games beginning December 23rd against the Denver Nuggets kicks off a span of six games which will be tough. After this game against Denver, Charlotte heads on a road trip to take on the Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets, and Kings. This is going to be a very tough stretch where a lot will be learned about this Hornets team.

The final 13 games are not exactly a walk in the park. The Hornets will face Cleveland three times, Atlanta twice, Boston twice, in addition to taking on Golden State, LA Clippers, Portland, Orlando, Oklahoma City and, Dallas once. It is the final four games in particular that could prove troublesome for Charlotte if their postseason hopes are in the balance. Best-case scenario, the Hornets have already qualified for at least a spot in the Play-In Tournament by the time these games are played.
