Charlotte Hornets’ majority owner, Michael Jordan, joined a prestigious group as he was recently named to FanSided’s Fandom 250 list.

FanSided.com recently ranked the top 250 fandoms of not only sports but also entertainment, celebrities, and brands. Charlotte Hornets‘ owner, Michael Jordan, falls under two of those categories. It is no surprise that the Jumpman was named to the list as he came in at #67.

While the Charlotte Hornets’ team did not make the rankings, MJ did and as the owner of the team, that means by association, the team did as well. Since he started playing basketball at a high-level in college at North Carolina, Jordan was a star. His transition to the NBA with the Chicago Bulls was followed by him becoming the face of a franchise and a generation.

Michael Jordan the person has a huge following within himself but the Jordan brand creates such a bigger bubble. Billions of people around the world recognize the Jordan brand logo whether it be on shoes, shorts, or a shirt. It has become a symbol that everyone associates with The GOAT, Michael Jordan.

More from Swarm and Sting

With his loyal fans following every move, it is clear to everyone that Jordan is one of the top 250 fandoms on the planet. Coming in at #67 even seems a bit low considering that MJ is loved and admired by almost every single person who has ever touched a basketball or watched the sport. Even if people don’t love basketball or MJ, they will still wear his clothes and shoes because of their style.

Long story short, it was an easy decision to put Jordan/Jumpman on the list.

Here’s what FanSided.com had to say about Michael Jordan:

LeBron James was the highest ranking basketball player in the rankings coming in at #9. While the Golden State Warriors were the highest basketball team at #15.

To save you some time, the number one Fandom on FanSided’s list is the Chicago Cubs. But make sure to read the full rankings as they are quite amazing.

While it is great to see Michael Jordan appear in the rankings, t is a shame that the Charlotte Hornets’ faithful weren’t named to the list. The people doing the rankings must have never been to a game at The Hive. Oh well, maybe next time around.
