Buzz City Beat is a daily roundup of the latest and greatest news and articles from around the internet surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.

The Charlotte Hornets dropped their seventh straight game as they lost a close one to the Utah Jazz in their most recent outing. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at how hard work is the source of Kemba Walker‘s all-star season, Miles Plumlee‘s fit with the team, and Ramon Sessions‘ knee surgery isn’t certain.

Work is the Simple Source of Kemba’s All-Star Season

“Just to see where he’s at three years later, four years later is just tremendous. The guy puts in a lot of work. It was a matter of time before he got his game where he wants it.” More than anything else, the work is the theme that comes up again and again when talking to anyone with the Hornets about their star.” (Sports.Vice.com)

No surprise here. Kemba continues to be praised as one of the hardest workers in the NBA over the past few seasons. Not only has his outside shot improved because of his work in the offseason but his game as a whole has gotten better each and every season. His work on both sides of the ball is the simple source of his all-star season. Hard work really does pay off and Walker is a prime example of that.

Analyzing the Fit of Miles Plumlee

“With no avenue for cap space this summer, Charlotte flipped expiring assets for a legitimate backup center. The reality for this season was that Charlotte needed to upgrade its bench, and it seems likely they did so. Plumlee is a minor addition, but it gives the Hornets more ammunition to arrest their dive and hang onto their playoff spot – ahead of the lurking Milwaukee Bucks.” (AtTheHive.com)

Many bashed the Hornets for trading for Plumlee. He has one of the worst looking contracts in the league but many used that to overlook his actual production. While he was doing next to nothing this year, he has had success in the past. Looking at his style of play, Miles’ somewhat resembles a rawer Cody Zeller so he could fit perfectly with Charlotte.

Sessions’ Knee Surgery Isn’t Automatic

“It’s not automatic surgery. From what the doctor in Utah saw, it wasn’t the worst tear. It was a little tear,” Sessions said. “Surgery or not, we don’t know. But it already feels better than it did the first night.” (CharlotteObserver.com)

It is still unclear how long Ramon will be out with his torn meniscus in his left knee. If he needs surgery, Sessions could be out for six to eight weeks. If not does not need surgery, four weeks of rest could be all that he needs. For now, Brian Roberts and Ray McCallum will fill in as the backup point guard behind Kemba Walker for the Charlotte Hornets.
