Despite a huge collapse by the Charlotte Hornets against the Raptors, Kemba and Frank were able to combine for 51 total points.

The Charlotte Hornets blew a big lead in the fourth quarter to the Toronto Raptors after it looked like they had control of the game after the third period. Charlotte played terrible in the fourth quarter in their epic collapse. Unless the Hornets get it together, they will be facing a season ending in no playoff contention this year.

Our player of the game is Frank Kaminsky. In this one, Frank was just a star from the beginning. Despite missing some key shots, he stepped up in a big way to help out Kemba Walker. He set a new career-high in points as Kaminsky filled in at the starting center spot with Cody Zeller out.

Kemba Walker (A+)

24 PTS 9 AST 4 REBS

When the Hornets were down by a huge margin in the first half, Kemba went off and ended up making four consecutive three’s in the second quarter. He ended the first half with fifteen points. Walker looked like an excellent all-star in this game and easily won the point guard duel against Kyle Lowry.

Nicolas Batum (B-)

10  PTS 5 AST 4 REBS

Batum did a horrible job of taking care of the ball as he committed six turnovers in this one. If the Hornets are to be successful, they need Nic to play at his best every night. He ended up having the most turnovers and did not provide the offensive effort Charlotte needed in the fourth. Nicolas needs to improve his passing abilities and take better care of the ball. Batum had a few poor defensive possessions as well.

Frank Kaminsky (A+)

27 PTS 3 AST 4 REBS

Kaminsky had arguably the best game of his career. He set a new career-high in points with as he was hitting from the inside and outside. Frank made some key plays in the game but was still outmatched on the boards by Jonas Valanciunas at times. Kaminsky needs to continue playing at this level if Cody is to remain out after the All-Star break.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (B+)

6 PTS 2 AST 14 REBS

Kidd-Gilchrist was excellent on the glass in this one. He held DeRozen to under ten points and was a defensive powerhouse. He ended the game with fourteen rebounds. MKG provided a level of energy in this game. While he did get boards and defend DeMar, the one knock is his lack of offense game. Some more points out of Michael would’ve given him a complete all-around game.

Marvin Williams (C+)

5 PTS 1 AST 9 REBS

Williams did a good job rebounding the ball but he also had another poor shooting night. While only making two shots, he did not provide a great offensive effort. Toward the end of the game, Williams had the chance to make some shots that could’ve put the team up late. Marvin needs to be more confident with his shots.

Marco Belinelli (C-)

3 PTS 1 AST 1 REBS

This was one of Marco’s worst games of the season so far this year. He was barely able to provide an impact in the game outside of making one three-pointer before the third quarter was over. Don’t expect another off game from Belinelli next time out as he rarely has two bad outings in a row.

Brian Roberts (C)

2 PTS 0 AST 1 REBS

Brian did not play enough minutes to have a true impact.

Jeremy Lamb (C+)

6 PTS 0 AST 2 REBS

Coming off the bench, Lamb made some key shots and was a great energizer for the Hornets. When Jeremy is playing well, Charlotte generally does pretty well. We need Lamb to continue giving the team energy while coming off the bench. His six points were good but he could’ve done more throughout the night.

Mike Tobey (C)

2 PTS 0 AST 3 REBS

In his Hornets’ debut, Tobey looked very energized on the court and seemed to fit very good in with Charlotte’s second unit. Not a bad debut in the NBA for Mike.

Next: Hornets Should Trade for Lou Williams at the Deadline

The Charlotte Hornets need to do a better job at finishing games going forward. They had a big chance at winning this game and gaining some momentum but did not execute in the final minutes. It is time for the Hornets to wake up and shake things up during the All-Star break. The Hornets will come back after the break and face the Detroit Pistons.
