After some poor shooting stretches, the Charlotte Hornets’ perimeter game has vastly improved and seemingly come to life in recent weeks.

Before the All-Star Game, the Charlotte Hornets struggled to get quality looks from beyond the arc. Post All-Star Break has been a different story as they have excelled in shooting the three ball. Many of the perimeter buckets have been coming from Nicolas Batum, Kemba Walker, Marvin Williams and even Frank Kaminsky.

The perimeter game has ignited the offense and has put the Hornets in good positions to potentially win games as of late. Charlotte’s averages about 10 made three’s a game this season but in their previous three games, they have averaged 16. While they were shooting decently in the last three outing before the all-star break, their tough overtime loss to the Detroit Pistons has seemingly brought out the best shooting stretch of the season for the team.

In the Hornets’ first game that kicked off the second half of the season, they did not seem to look fully focused. Charlotte only made seven three’s as a team and blew a big fourth-quarter lead again. While they looked lackadaisical in that one, Steve Clifford must’ve gotten on them before Kemba and company came alive following this 114-108 loss.

In their second road game, the Hornets were able to knock down 14 shots from the perimeter with Frank Kaminsky leading the way with five. Their outstanding three-point shooting was a big reason for their first win away from home in 12 games. The outside shooting was needed as Kemba was only limited to 12 points.

This had to be one of the most heartbreaking losses of the year for the Hornets. In this overtime loss, they knocked down 18 total three’s. Their perimeter shooting kept them within reach. Walker and Batum were able to combine for an incredible 14 three’s in the game but it was not enough in a late controversial loss in LA. Despite the loss, Nic made a season-high eight shots from behind the arc.

Charlotte’s three-point shooting came early and often against the Lakers. This was yet another close game for the Hornets and their three-point shooting was likely the difference maker for them as they got the victory. The Hornets’ were hot from deep during both games in LA.

They combined for a team total of 16 three’s while Walker, Williams, Kaminsky and Marco Belinelli led the way with their excellent shooting. Kemba and Marvin made some clutch three’s at the end of the game to secure the win.

The Hornets have been improving each game with their perimeter shooting. Based on their recent trend, they will make around 16 three’s in this one with Kemba and Kaminsky leading the way. Charlotte will look to extend their season-high of three straight games with at least 14 made three’s to four matches.
