Welcome to Buzz City Beat, a daily roundup of the latest and greatest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

After losing the first two games of the NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers look to bounce back in Game Three as they host the Golden State Warriors. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at possible guard for the Charlotte Hornets to draft in the second round, Dion Waiters fit with the team and the most used jersey number in franchise history.

"a number of intriguing guard prospects could be available for the Hornets during the second round if that’s an area they choose to address at the time."

Sam Perley put together an extensive list of projected second round guards such as Jawun Evans, Frank Jackson, Derrick White,  Edmond Sumner, Josh Hart, P.J. Dozier, Frank Mason, Tyler Dorsey, Monte Morris, Wesley Iwundu, Sindarius Thornwell, Nigel Williams-Goss, Kobi Simmons, Sterling Brown and L.J. Peak. The Hornets haven’t kept a second round pick since 2012 so based on the last few years, it is likely that they trade the pick. Hopefully, they keep it and take a promising prospect.

Charlotte could bring in all of these players for pre-draft workouts but as of right now, they are only scheduled to scout White and Dozier. They already interviewed Jackson at the combine and Rich Cho scouted Hart at his pro day. As for former South Carolina star Thornwell, he isn’t scheduled to audition for the Hornets.

Is Charlotte a potential landing spot for Dion Waiters? (FanRagSports.com)

"The Hornets would need to carve out cap room to make this happen, which would probably lead to a Marco Belinelli or Marvin Williams being dealt. But the Hornets were desperately searching for someone not named Kemba Walker to get buckets last season, and Waiters would fill that gap perfectly."

Waiters is in for a serious pay raise this summer after only making $2.9 million last season. Dion is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent since he declined his $3 million player option for next year. While he has already expressed his interest in returning to Miami, there is a chance that he could land elsewhere and possibly even in Charlotte if the Hornets create some cap space.

After his breakout season, Waiters is now one of the top free agent shooting guards this offseason with plenty of potential suitors. If Charlotte was somehow able to sign him, Dion would give the team another consistent scorer which they desperately need. Just looking at the Hornets’ cap situation though, this move is highly unlikely.

"The Hornets (including the Hornets before the New Orleans move and the current Hornets, which are actually the Bobcats) had 12 players under #12."

Jerry Sichting was the Hornets first ever #12 in 1990 but Vlade Divac is probably Charlotte’s most memorable. Although, Shannon Brown, Jorge Gutierrez and most recently Treveon Graham have donned the number. After #12, #1 and #7 have been worn by 11 different players while 10 have worn #2, #5 and #21. The biggest surprise is that nine players have worn #55.
