Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the best articles from around the internet surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.

One of the Charlotte Hornets‘ newest member, Dwight Howard, is working out in an Atlanta gym near his home. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at who Malik Monk compares himself to, a possible trade for Jae Crowder and Michael Jordan to buy Miami Marlins.

Ask Malik Monk: Player comparison/ Markelle Fultz or Lonzo Ball? (Complex.com)

"Lou Williams, Jamal Crawford, a little bit of Russ, C.J. McCollum, Brad Beal. I try to take from them. Fultz does everything, scores, gets people involved. Lonzo just wants to get everybody involved. They’re both great picks but I think Markelle does a little bit more."

It’s hard to compare Monk’s game to just one player and he uses a number of different guards to help mold his style. In truth, it just shows how versatile Malik is. His shooting combined with elite athleticism makes it difficult to categorize his game. He has the offensive creativity of Williams and Crawford but the athleticism of Westbrook and the shooting of Beal.

As for his thoughts on the Fultz vs Ball debate, the Hornets’ first-round pick leans towards Markelle. Although, he did praise Lonzo for his ability to be a good facilitator and playmaker. Monk also mentioned that his favorite player is Russell Westbrook and he watched a lot of OKC growing up in Arkansas.

Making a trade for Jae Crowder (TheDrive.bangorDailyNews.com)

"With Charlotte adding Dwight Howard to the fold, Kaminsky will likely have a hard time seeing much action for Steve Clifford’s crew. Why not pick up a guy in Crowder that could fit your roster right away, and help with the win now mentality they seem to have?"

Trading Kaminsky for Crowder doesn’t work straight up. Charlotte would have to include the non-guaranteed deals of Briante Weber and Johnny O’Bryant to complete the deal. Although, does that trade really improve the Hornets? I don’t think it does.

While Jae may be a slight upgrade over Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, it would give the team yet another wing player and leave them short a big man. Charlotte would also be forced to take on Crowder’s contract and he is owed over $20 million through the next three seasons. This would not be a beneficial move for the Hornets salary-wise or roster-wise.

MJ to join Jeter in purchase of Miami Marlins (SportingNews.com)

"Derek Jeter’s group — with Michael Jordan on board — has bid $1.2 billion for the Marlins and could be closing in on a deal for the MLB team, The New York Post reported late Monday night."

It looks like Michael Jordan is on the verge of owning not only one but two professional sports teams. It will be interesting to see how this impacts, if at all, his ownership of the Hornets. Will he sell the team or will he be forced to split time between the two? Only time will tell.
