Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the latest and greatest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

The Charlotte Hornets have officially waived Briante Weber prior to the August 1st deadline. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the Hornets’ best offseason deal, Charlotte plans to unveil new uniforms on July 31st and Rich Cho’s food blog.

Hornets’ best offseason move (BasketballInsiders.com)

"Talk about a trade that was a complete heist for Rich Cho. Knowing that the Hawks were going into a rebuilding stage with the loss of Paul Millsap, Charlotte jumped in and pounced on the first opportunity they saw to land Howard."

Even though Charlotte added Michael Carter-Williams who signed a team friendly deal, Malik Monk who fell to them in the first round and Dwayne Bacon who could end up being a second round steal, acquiring Howard was the best move they made. Not only did they get a starting quality center but they were also able to shred Miles Plumlee‘s massive contract.

The trade for #12 made it possible for the Hornets to draft Bacon as well. Dwight is a double-double machine and a great rebounder which is exactly what the team needed. Charlotte did some good business this summer but the move for Howard shouldn’t be undervalued because he could be a big reason why they get back into the playoffs.

Charlotte to unveil new uniforms (CharlotteObserver.com)

"The Charlotte Hornets told fans in an email Friday the team will unveil new uniform designs Monday. The changes could be as simple as adding a “Jumpman” logo patch, as it was previously announced the Hornets would be associated with Jordan Brand"

How great would it be if the Hornets unveiled a pinstripe throwback on July 31st? We probably shouldn’t be expecting too much from this announcement as their uniforms could be similar to last season’s jerseys with the addition of the Jordan Brand logo. Still, it is pretty big news considering that Charlotte’s going to be the only team with the Jumpman instead of a Nike logo.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens during the official announcement. The team and EVP Pete Guelli have been teasing the new uniforms across social media. Here’s hoping that the unveiling includes a new alternate and a throwback with pinstripes.

Rich Cho starts blog for scouting food (SI.com)

"His food “scouting report” blog, Big Time Bites, has officially launched. After his Instagram feed blew up among NBA executives, a blog seemed like the next logical step."

Rich Cho’s Instagram feed is full of decadent food from across the globe. Who would’ve thought that the Hornets’ general manager would be a person who posts pictures of their meals? Whatever the case is, Cho’s Big Time Bites page has a lot of tasty looking eats.
