Kristaps Porzingis is Too Much for the Charlotte Hornets to Handle. NY Beats CHA, 102-94.

The Charlotte Hornets were defeated by the New York Knicks, 102-94, as Knicks rookie, Kristaps Porzingis, scored a career high 29 points to go along with 11 rebounds on 10-17 shooting from the floor as well as two three pointers.

The Charlotte Hornets fall to a record of (5-6) on the season with the loss to New York and have yet to get over .500 this year. The Knciks improved to (6-6) with this win.

The Charlotte Hornets starters struggled to score the ball in this one but Kemba Walker and the bench kept them in the game for the most part. Kemba scored 31 points on 12-21 shooting from the field but only recorded one assist on the game. That is problematic for the team and Kamba. He needs to find teammates better and they need to knock down shots.

The starters for the Hornets(besides Kemba) only scored 22 points on 10-30 shooting from the field. Nicolas Batum is coming off of a week in which he seemingly couldn’t miss and won the Eastern Conference Player of the week but he struggled mightily in this one. He shot 1-9 from the field and only scored four points.

More from Swarm and Sting

All of the starters were in the negative for +/- on the game and it showed. They struggled all night to score the ball and defend the Knicks.

The bench for the Charlotte Hornets was a different story. Three of the four players off of the bench scored in double digits and they all had a positive +/-. Spencer Hawes led the way with 14 points and five rebounds. Jeremy Lin scored 13 points to go along with three assists and five rebounds. Jeremy Lamb had a similar stat line with 12 points with three assists and six rebounds.

The New York Knicks on the other hand were led by their starters as Carmela Anthony scored 18 points and Aaron Afflalo added 16 points as well.

The Charlotte Hornets were out-rebounded once again in this one as the Knicks pulled in 45 rebounds as compared to the Hornets who pulled in 42.

I guess you could say that Porzingis and the Knicks got their revenge on the Hornets in this one.

Jeremy Lamb has been a bright spot off of the bench for the Charlotte Hornets all season and has been a great scoring threat that they have added this year.

"Quick Stings"

  • The Charlotte Hornets were without P.J. Hairston in this one for the first time this season.

The Charlotte Hornets will next play at home against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, November 18th in a back-to-back from tonights game. The Hornets will look to bounce back against the Nets and get back to .500 on the season with a win.

Next: The Magic of the Charlotte Hornets' Bench

This will be their first match-up against the Nets this season and they will look to get the upper hand on them to start the season series. The Nets will be on the second half of a back to back as well so both team’s might come into the game with some fatigue.
