Charlotte Hornets Round Table Discussion: Regular Season Awards
1. Who is the Charlotte Hornets’ MVP (Most Valuable Player) for this season?
Jerry Stephens:
I believe that Kemba Walker has been the Charlotte Hornets’ Most Valuable Player this season. He leads the team in scoring, steals, second in assists, and has the best PER (player efficiency rating) on the team. He has carried the team in some games this season but he is the best player on the team. He is easily the most valuable. Without Walker, the Hornets would be out of the playoff picture this season.

Deshawn White:
Kemba Walker is a man on a mission. He’s putting up career bests in almost EVERY category. Saying he’s the team’s MVP rightfully fits his play and mentality. The added benefit of playing with selfless and defensive minded players like Courtney Lee and Nicolas Batum have propelled his game to a new level. It seems like he’s taken and made more threes than ever this year, and it also seems like the National Champion has finally made that step in becoming a true PG threat. No one can deny him the title of MVP of the season.
Connor Penegar:
I’ll go against the flow with my pick for MVP for this Hornets team. I’m going with Nicolas Batum, the fantastic Frenchman. Although Kemba Walker is a fantastic pick for MVP, I believe that Nic provides even more than Walker to this team. The way that Nic facilitates the offense, shoots the ball, and plays defense has been crucial to this team’s success. Without Batum, this team would not be in the place where they currently are. Nic is doing so much for the Hornets, and he, along with Kemba have formed this Hornets team into a contender for the Eastern Conference title.
