2. Who is the Charlotte Hornets MIP (Most Improved Player) this season?

Jerry Stephens:

My vote for the Charlotte Hornets’ Most Improved Player this season would go to Marvin Williams. He only started in 37 games last season and averaged 7.4 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game. He has upped his scoring to 11.7 points per game this season and his rebounding to a team high 6.5 per game. He has also improved his shooting range. He has made 150 three-point shots this season while shooting 40% from behind the arc compared to only 95 last year on 35.8%. He also only missed one game this whole season.

Deshawn White:

MIP goes to Marvin Williams. How many games this season have started with a Marvin Williams three (MW3?)? How many games did he convert multiple threes or finish with double-digit scoring? Marvin has been heavily criticized since his arrival in the NBA, and he was even criticized arriving in Charlotte years later after spending his college years in Chapel Hill. Now, he’s holding his own as the resident veteran as well as a very intelligent and dependable threat. As Jerry stated previously, his points and rebounds have increased as well as his range, BUT let’s not forget that he IS a leader on a young team.

Connor Penegar:

I agree that the Most Improved Player on this Hornets team has been Marvin Williams. I’ll be totally honest, I thought that Marv was done in Charlotte after his bad year with the team last year. I didn’t know of anything that he provided for the team that couldn’t be replaced. Boy, I’ve been very wrong, and I’m happy to be wrong. Marv has simply been superb for Steve Clifford’s team this season. The way that he plays with intensity, fire and a newfound love for the game inspires the whole team. Williams revamped his career with this season in Charlotte, and I’m extremely happy for the guy. He deserves it.
